You Need To Read This

O friend, read this and believe it!!

Jesus does not say, ‘Come to me, all you who have learned how to concentrate in prayer, whose minds no longer wander, and I will give you rest.’ No, Jesus opens his arms to his needy children and says, ‘Come to me, all who are weary and heaven-laden, and I will give you rest.’

The criteria for coming to Jesus is messiness. Come overwhelmed with life. Come with your wandering mind. Come messy.

  1. I absolutely love that I can come to Jesus in my messiness. I wouldn’t be here, were that not true.

I wish so much that this message could be better understood by those who misunderstand Jesus. How many times do we hear, “Well I’ll think about that after I fix a few things” or “I want church for my kids, but I’m beyond all of that for myself; I’ve made too many mistakes.” It makes me so sad to think that we, the church, have somehow shown the world that the gospel is about cleaning up your act, rather than coming to Jesus, just as you are, at your very worst and allowing his love, grace, and ultimate work on the cross to do the saving. Once again, I’m riveted by the words found in Romans 5:8 “but God shows his love for us in that while we were STILL sinners, Christ died for us.”

Thanks for these great words today.
