Jesus Messiah

This coming Sunday, October 25th, we will be learning a new song at Calvary.

It comes at the suggestion from my close friend Carl Larsen, and wonderfully exults in the Christ of the text for that morning, Galatians 3:10-14.

Here is the text:

Gal. 3.10   For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” 11 Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.” 12 But the law is not of faith, rather “The one who does them shall live by them.” 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”— 14 so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.

The song is called Jesus, Messiah.  It is another great worship song from Chris Tomlin, on the album “Hello LOVE.”  If you would like a jump-start at learning it, and would love to exult in the Savior this way in advance, I suggest two things.

First, read over and meditate on the text.  Read the context.  Pray for the Spirit to open your eyes to the glories of Christ.

Second, go to iTunes and splurge – spend $0.99 for the song and learn it ahead of time this week.  I’ve included the words below (thanks Carl) to help you out.

O may Christ use Word and song to show himself glorious to us this week!

He became sin
Who knew no sin
That we might become His Righteousness
He humbled himself and carried the cross

Love so amazing
Love so amazing

Chorus:
Jesus Messiah
Name above all names
Blessed Redeemer
Emmanuel
The rescue for sinners
The ransom from Heaven
Jesus Messiah
Lord of all

His body the bread
His blood the wine
Broken and poured out all for love
The whole earth trembled
And the veil was torn

Love so amazing
Love so amazing, yeah

Chorus:
Jesus Messiah
Name above all names
Blessed Redeemer
Emmanuel
The rescue for sinners
The ransom from Heaven
Jesus Messiah
Lord of all

All our hope is in You
All our hope is in You
All the glory to You, God
The light of the world

Chorus:
Jesus Messiah
Name above all names
Blessed Redeemer
Emmanuel
The rescue for sinners
The ransom from Heaven
Jesus Messiah
Lord of all
